Why Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at Adele Wellness?

CBT, along with other behavior modifying modalities, have long been the backbone of our flagship Weight Loss Programs and Corporate Wellness Program.

We integrate CBT into all of our programs because when you understand your thoughts you understand your actions and behaviors. In the same way that your choice of food has a chemical affect on your hormones, your thoughts also affect the chemistry of the brain, which in turn will affect your behavior.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a very practical modality aimed at problem solving and has proven incredibly effective in managing anxiety, depression, substance abuse, sleep problems, relationship problems, and more. This short term, hands on approach empowers you to take control of your thoughts, emotions and behaviors in a way that will last.

“CBT is one of the most effective treatments for conditions where anxiety or depression is the main problem. It is the most effective psychological treatment for moderate and severe depression. It is as effective as antidepressants for many types of depression.”

— ROYAL COLLEGE OF PSYCHIATRISTS

What can CBT do for you?

CBT is not motivational, but rather an evidence-based modality, meaning we look at the facts. When we dealing with weight loss and mental health, what often deters us from getting the results we want or really being effective are things like guilt, anxiety, stress and worry – all of which for most people stem from a distorted view of reality.

The tools and exercises we use in session help you overcome these limiting beliefs about your situations and circumstances. We coach you to recognize the thoughts running the show in the background and the behaviors associated with them.

With this knowledge, we can deconstruct and break the habits that aren’t serving you and co-create strategies for nutrition and over-all wellbeing that are tailored to you as an individual or to your organization. As the new habits replace the old, you gain access to positive changes and results that last a lifetime.
